Smoked Salmon Toasts

My obsession with smoked salmon is a bit out of hand these days. Any opportunity that I have to incorporate some lox into my meal, you bet I will. These toasts are perfectly traditional, yet absurdly tasty. They allow the smoked salmon flavors to really come through while adding the perfect complementary flavors.

Ingredients

  • High-quality sourdough bread

  • Butter

  • Crème freshe (or sour cream if you can’t find any)

  • Smoked salmon

  • Fresh dill

  • Capers

Instructions

  1. Slice your sourdough to desired thickness (I like mine with some build, but not too tall that I can’t bite it). Pop your pieces of bread in the toaster.

  2. Once your bread is toasty and has that nice color to it, spread a thin layer of butter over it.

  3. Follow that by a hefty dollop of your crème freshe (or sour cream alternative).

  4. Layer up your toast with smoked salmon, fresh dill, and a good amount of capers. (I always tend to over do it on the capers because let’s be real, about half of them fall off anyways).
